BootFest is proud to present our first artist for 2023:

How does it feel to watch the horrors of the World from the comfort of the happiest country on Earth? This is the central question being put into song by the Danish dark country band Bound by Law. The band is made up of Mads Wilhjelm (vocals/guitar), his long time friends the brothers Jon Rahbek (harmonica/piano), Jess Rahbek (guitar/banjo), Martin Rauff (bass), Jakob Høg (drums) and their manager Maria Moni.

The guys got their education in country music by spending years playing Johnny Cash songs in dive bars across Denmark before deciding to form Bound by Law and write their own songs. Combining American roots music with Scandinavian songwriting tradition, Bound by Law sings about the modern day outlaws as being the international banks, the oil industry and warmongering politicians as the darker sides of human civilization are being exposed.

Bound by Law was born a live band and they are notorious for putting on a sweat dripping show that has built them a devoted fan base that will travel all over Denmark to catch the band.

After breaking into the international dark country scene on Spotify quickly building a growing international following, Bound by Law was invited to America to play as nominees at Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards in October 2018 where they proceeded to win the award for Original Song of The Year.

The review of Bound by Law’s showcase at SPOT Festival 2019 written by Artists in the Spotlight reads:

“Bound by Law put on a mind-bogglingly intense show. It was definitely the highlight of SPOT 2019 and will forever be the standard to which I hold live performances in the future. Well done, gentlemen! A word of advice: DO NOT pass up a chance to see Bound by Law live. Even if country music isn’t your “thing”, these guys will blow your mind!”
